Kids never actually say, "When I grow up, I want to be a firefighter and see the absolute worst scenes humanity can muster, and then pretend it doesn't bother me when I close my eyes to sleep at night..."
The job isn't heroic because it's sunshine and daisies. Nor is it heroic to believe that you can endure all there is to endure entirely on your own.
Watch Captain Steven's, SLC Fire Department, talk about his 30 years on the job and how he battled through suicide and got the help he needed. If he can get help, you can get help.
If you're a firefighter that has found some success battling PTSD, Depression, Anxiety, or other mental health challenges, and feel you have strength to share with your brothers and sisters still in the line of duty, please contact us today.
